Today I went to "college." Well, I just went to take the English Placement test. It was a good thing I wasn't overall alone. The exam was actually a bit easier than I expected. I was required to write on the fact that students and children fail to realize the competitiveness in the workforce and there are hardly any graduates in the United States. And I believe I did a good job proving my argument. I gave quotes from President Obama, former President Kennedy and the examples of Jay Leno's "Jay-walking" and the circumstances in third-world nations that prevent children/students from completing school. Fun stuff. The guy's name is Kelly. i thought of "Grace Kelly." (Inside joke.) And yesterday we had been talking about Dwayne Johnson and there was this other guy named Dwayne. (Insert chuckle here.) Good day. My dad got sick so I drove a lot. Too bad I couldn't get the things I wanted done.
It was brought to my attention that Kanye West wrote a song titled "Jesus Walks." And after listening to it, there are a few things that I have to say about it. A few lines that struck out to me were
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down (Jesus Walks with me).
...
My momma used to say "Only Jesus can save us"
...
The only thing that I pray is that my feet don't fail me now (Jesus Walks) And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs (Jesus Walks with me) I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long
...
Now hear ye hear ye want to see Thee more clearly I know He hear me when my feet get weary
...
I ain't here to argue about His facial features Or here to convert atheists into believers I'm just trying to say the way school need teachers The way Kathie Lee needed Regis that's the way I need Jesus
...
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
I agree that only Jesus can save us. His mother was right in saying this. Absolutely right. No other person can keep from hell but him. And I do agree that he shouldn't rap about anything that isn't Jesus. He should be the concentration of all our talk. I don't always do this, but I know he should be. The Devil does try to break us down, but God is there, He's stronger can destroy him. We shouldn't be afraid to call out to God, when we have faith and resort to seeking him, He's always there to listen. And it's true, our job is not to convert but to share Jesus and be a witness to those who don't know him.
